The Beliefs of Oil of Joy Ministries Christian Center

The basic and fundamental doctrine and faith of Oil of Joy Ministries Christian Center shall be biblical standards of holiness and full salvation – which is repentance, baptism in water by full immersion in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and the baptism of the Holy Ghost which is the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.

Holy Scriptures – We believe that all scripture (consisting of the Old and New Testament) is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect; thoroughly furnished unto all good works; for everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17; Romans 15:40)

God – We believe that there is only one, true and living God who eternally exists in three Manifestations: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of the heavens, the earth and all mankind. We believe that He is the I AM and is God alone. He is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness. We further believe that He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
(1 Timothy 2:5; Jeremiah 10:10; 1 John 5:7; Genesis 1:1; Genesis 1:27; Exodus 3:14; Psalm 86:10; Jonah 4:2; Revelation 22:13)

Jesus Christ – We believe Jesus is the only begotten Son of God who was conceived from the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary. We believe that He died on the cross, was buried and raised from the dead; that He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God the Father. We believe that Jesus did no sin, made no reputation of Himself and that there is no other name whereby we must be saved. Furthermore, we believe that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow … and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
(John 3:16; Matthew 1:18-23; Matthew 27:35; Mark 16:19; 1 Peter 2:22; Acts 4:12’ Philippians 2:10-11)

Holy Ghost– We believe that the Holy Ghost is the third manifestation of the Deity. He is the Comforter that was sent to teach all things and bring all things to our remembrance. He endows man with spiritual gifts, serves as a witness to us, controls the sinful nature of those in whom He dwells and is the Spirit of truth.
(John 14:26; 1 Corinthians 12; Hebrews 10:15; John 14:17)

Holiness – We believe that God has not called His people to uncleanness, but He has called us unto holiness; that we should put on the new self created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. For God said, “Ye shall be holy; for I am holy.” We believe that we should purify ourselves from everything that contaminates the body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
(1 Thessalonians 4:7; Ephesians 4:24; Leviticus 11:44; 2 Corinthians 7:1)

Sin – We believe that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; that sin is the transgression of the law (the commandments of God). Furthermore, we believe that all unrighteousness is sin and that the wages of sin is death; that whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin and for the servant of sin their iniquities have separated them from their God and caused His face to be hidden and Him not to hear.
(Romans 3:23; 1 John 3:4; 1 John 5:17; Romans 6:23; John 8:34; Isaiah 59:2)

Repentance – We believe that repentance is the beginning stage of salvation – godly sorrow brings repentance unto salvation. By definition, to repent is to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life. We believe that in the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands people everywhere to repent; for Jesus said, “Repent for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand” – except we repent, we will all likewise perish.
(2 Corinthians 7:10; Matthew 4:17; Acts 17:30; Luke 13:3)

Water Baptism – We believe that unless a man is born of the water and of the Spirit they cannot enter the Kingdom of God – for baptism doth also now save us. We are to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins. We further believe that all who are baptized into Jesus Christ are buried with Him through baptism into death so that just as Christ was raised from the dead we may also live a new life; that our old self was crucified with Him so that we should no longer be slaves to sin – because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
(John 3:5; 1 Peter 3:21; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-7)

Baptism of the Holy Ghost – We believe the baptism of the Holy Ghost is evidenced by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance. For Jesus said, “wait for the gift my Father promised … for John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” And the prophet Isaiah said, “…with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to His people.”
(Acts 2:4; Acts 1:4-5; Isaiah 28:11)

Salvation – We believe that God did not appoint us to suffer wrath, but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ; that from the beginning God chose us to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth. We further believe that the grace of God brings salvation, which by definition, is the deliverance from sin and/or death; the deliverance from the power and effects of sin.
(1 Thessalonians 5:9; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; Titus 2:11)

Holy Communion – We believe the Lord’s Supper, consisting of the elements – bread and fruit of the vine – is the symbol expressing our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ; a memorial of His suffering and death; and a prophecy of His second coming; and is enjoined on all believers until He comes. We further believe that the washing of feet is an equally important element of Holy Communion. For after washing the disciples’ feet, Jesus said, “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”
(1 Corinthians 11:17-34; John 13:1-17)
